Nulpt the Devil

I had a pretty cool revelation the other day. I was simply looking at all the wonderful creation that surrounded me, the trees, grass, birds etc... and was floored by it all. Nothing that we can buy can compare to the beauty that God has created. His creation cries out out his magnificence. Everything else is gravy. All that we have or think we own are gifts from him. I started thinking about all that God has given me and began to assess how was I taking care of these gifts. Do I take care of the material things that I have? Do I take care of myself, the body God gave me and most important, Do I take care of my family, my precious children and loving wife? Do I take care of them the way God desires me to? I realized that I am accountable for much. I am accountable for all the things that God has entrusted me to. As the Man of my household I must lead my family in the right direction. The responsibility is mine and I can not do it without the guidance of my Lord. Which brings me to another point. Why do I not spend enough time reading the manual (The Bible) that God gave me? It is all laid out in this book and once again it is my responsibility to learn and live it. When it is my turn to leave this world, I will not care about the house or the cars, or shiny things, even though shiny things are cool. "I have never seen a Hurst pull a Uhaul." The only things I want to follow after me into Heaven is my Family.

Fathers, teach your children what is important. Teach them to follow the Savior. Teach them to NULPT the Devil. The devil can not steal the soul of a believer but he can render you useless in the kingdom if you allow him to. How are you affecting eternity? When it is all said and done and you are facing the Creator of all. What will your live speak? Did you live your life your way or His and How did you affect eternity?

It is Well

It is well with my soul. hopefully you have heard that song before. The words ring so powerful in my ears. No matter what...how painful it gets, it is well with my soul.

This hymn was written after two major traumas in Spafford’s life. The first was the great Chicago Fire of October 1871, which ruined him financially (he had been a wealthy businessman). Shortly after, while crossing the Atlantic, all four of Spafford’s daughters died in a collision with another ship. Spafford’s wife Anna survived and sent him the now famous telegram, “Saved alone.” Several weeks later, as Spafford’s own ship passed near the spot where his daughters died, the Holy Spirit inspired these words. They speak to the eternal hope that all believers have, no matter what pain and grief befall them on earth.

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,When sorrows like sea billows roll;Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,It is well, it is well, with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,It is well, with my soul,It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,Let this blest assurance control,That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole,Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:If Jordan above me shall roll,No pang shall be mine, for in death as in lifeThou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.

But, Lord, ‘tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,The sky, not the grave, is our goal;Oh trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord!Blessèd hope, blessèd rest of my soul!

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,The clouds be rolled back as a scroll; The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,Even so, it is well with my soul.
